Crimes Against Democracy
-
Endorsed Obama for President three weeks before the end of the Democratic primary. Keenan, the former Montana State Superintendent of Schools, argued that “NARAL does not endorse candidates based on gender or party affiliation.” NARAL’S premature endorsement of Senator Obama was unjustifiable since both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama have 100% pro-choice voting records. In addition, Senator Clinton has been a lifetime advocate of a women’s right to choose, and worked actively to oppose the nominations of Samuel Alito and John Roberts. Ellen Malcolm, the president of Emily’s List, condemned NARAL. “I think it is tremendously disrespectful to Senator Clinton – who held up the nomination of a FDA commissioner in order to force approval of plan B.” The endorsement of Obama before the general election is a slap in the face not only to Senator Clinton, but women in general.
